Reiki and Mental Health: The Effects of Reiki on your MIND

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Have you ever felt stressed? Overwhelmed? Depressed? Anxious?

I have and I am sure you have too. We have all been there in some way or another.

Perhaps you are unable to think clearly or maybe you are having trouble making decisions.

Have you ever sought out guidance creating a healthy mindset?

Reiki can help!

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a non-invasive, energy healing technique which promotes relaxation, aids the body in ridding itself of toxins, compliments medical treatments and increases the body's natural ability to self-heal, to name a few. Along with its undeniable effects on the physical body it also has positive effects on your mind.

Reiki treatments will decrease anxiety and stress levels, increase mood and energy levels, increase your ability to relax (who doesn't need a good night's sleep!) and promote self-care.

It restores your body's natural balance by channeling energy into the client (you) from the practitioner by touch or near touch.

The relation between Reiki and mental health: How does Reiki help?

When a balance occurs between your body & mind, BOTH function at their best. You think and process information clearly, you have a better awareness of yourself, your needs and desires, you gain a better understanding and connection with those around you and your body’s natural ability to heal itself is accelerated.

AWESOME!

BUT, you have to MAINTAIN that balance!

Using Crystals with Reiki

To understand how Reiki affects the mind we must remember, our physical bodies are connected, so, the mind affects the body, and the body affects the mind. This is how Reiki and mental health are connected.

Am I stressed?

Think about this, have you ever been so stressed out that you just feel physically exhausted?

When we are depressed, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or find ourselves in the habit of a negative thought process we do not only feel the effects mentally and emotionally but also physically. Stress and negative thoughts affect us in a variety of ways (the ways in which we are affected varies from person to person), all resulting in a less healthy body.

It could manifest as physical ailments such as headaches, hypertension (high blood pressure), digestive troubles, fatigue and muscle pain.

Stress can even affect your memory!

This is one of the biggest ones for me. When I feel particularly stressed out, I become very 'muddle-headed' and can’t seem to think straight! Anything from, 'where did I put my keys?!' to forgetting that it was my day to do the weekly shop or that I would cook dinner! I also end up being so disorganized that I'm constantly running late...this one drives my hubby INSANE! eek!

All in all, it makes for a very unproductive day!

Adding Self Reiki to my morning routine has been a big game changer for me and greatly reduced how I approach and react to stressful situations.

In the same way that these mental issues (listed above) affect the physical body, physical health issues can affect our mental health. For example, chronic pain can lead to depression, stress or anxiety.

Maybe you, or someone you know, spent time with a broken arm or leg which resulted in pain and limited you from doing your normal, daily activities. Maybe you have had to spend a lengthy amount of time in bed working though illness and pains, in effort to give your body the time and rest it needs to heal. Think back to how that made you feel.

It is difficult to stay motivated through all of this, difficult to remain positive. But you CAN.

Reiki will help you find and maintain that positive thought process, guide your body to heal and bring your body back to its natural balance between the mind and body.

Balanced bodies and minds create healthy humans!

Here is a comment from a regular client (written to me in 2018):

I have to admit I was very skeptical of Reiki to begin with. However, I gave it a go and after the first session, I was convinced, as she felt the energy and things about me that I knew were blocked up inside me. As the sessions continued, I can honestly say I can feel a difference in myself, both physically and mentally (the way I look at things has become more positive). She has helped me think in a more positive way than I would have done before in certain situations. Reiki sessions with Amy have made me more in tune with myself and given me a clearer scope of my goals and the confidence to go get them.

This client is still a client of mine, and we continue to work together to help him maintain balance. Together we decide on our focus for the session and frequently set intentions based on his previous sessions and any current blockages he, or I, feel at the time.
