What is Holistic Health?

Holistic health is an approach that supports an individual’s mental, physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual wellbeing – it considers the whole person.


What is the importance of Holistic Health? It is a proactive, not a reactive, approach to caring for yourself!


Holistic health involves lifestyle changes with a focus on self-care. Some of the changes may include diet, exercise, mindfulness, and relationship counseling (and more). Complementary and alternative therapies included in a holistic health routine are (but not limited to) Reiki, mediation, yoga, acupuncture, general western medicine, nutrition, and personal training.

Here are 2 simple and effective ways that I can help you create a holistic health plan.


1. Add regular Reiki appointments to your plan!


Reiki has a variety of positive effects on your body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, it has a positive effect on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self.


Some of the benefits of Reiki are:

1. pain reduction

2. decrease in blood pressure

3. promote growth

4. stimulate healing

5. improve quality of life in cancer patients. (A clinic in Western Australia has a Reiki clinic for patients receiving treatment for cancer).

6. decrease symptoms disease

7. stress reduction (positive effects on body & mind)


If you have never had a Reiki treatment or, have not been attending regular appointments then, I recommend that you start off with 4 Reiki treatments given over a one-month period (1 x per week). You and your Practitioner can then determine how often you should receive your treatments. This will depend on why you are receiving Reiki.


Some reasons why individuals seek Reiki:

1. As a part of a proactive health plan

2. Overcome past, traumatic experiences

3. Stress reduction

4. Improve quality of life

5. Enhance fitness routine

6. Complement western medical treatments (i.e. chemotherapy, after surgeries)


2. Add pure, natural oils to your daily routine


You may think, gosh, I don’t have time to add something else to my daily ‘to-do’ list…

Once you begin using essential oils, you really won’t know what you ever did without them!


The easiest way to get started (and reap the benefits) is to invest in a great diffuser. I recommend the dōTERRA Petal diffuser. It has a timer with 3 settings, is easy to clean and, it looks great!


Add a few drops to your diffuser in the morning and at night and set the timer. That’s it!

I recommend starting with a starter kit. The starter kits include the most used essential oils and have everything from rest and relaxation/calming to motivation, energizing and fitness!
